Can You Increase Basic Literacy Skills for Indigenous Australians with ICT’s?
A Mixed Methods Approach at Assessing Educational Technology
Abstract
This research proposal presents a mixed methods approach at assessing the role of educational technology and information communication technologies in underperforming primary mainstream schools in Australia. The articles discussed explore the relationship of Indigenous Australians (Aboriginals) with ICTs (Information Communication Technologies), the digital divide, as well as cultural issues and trends in the adoption of educational technologies in the primary classroom. This research proposal examines the benefits of participatory design and learning of ICTs for increasing basic literacy skills (reading and writing, thinking and creative skills, comprehension and creative writing) for Aboriginal learners.
